Our Story

TheMan and I met on a trip for young professionals geared towards developing  leaders. He was from sunny Southern California  and I was from New York. I never thought I’d be in a long distance relationship. In fact, when I met TheMan I wasn’t looking to be in any relationship. But as it were – the moment I met him I felt this instant spark. After about 2 weeks of making incredible memories there we were at JFK airport trying to figure out if this was the last time we’d ever see each other. And it was there, at JFK that we decided that we would try a long distance relationship. After a long and passionate kiss (the type you’d envision in a Hollywood film) he boarded his flight for Cali. I didn’t know what a long distance relationship entailed but I knew that this person that I had met was unlike any other. So TheMan and I embarked on this adventure during which we would fly back and forth between the West Coast and East Coast every 6 weeks to visit each other and talked every night on the phone. What began as two people trying to figure out if the other was for them and ended up with two people finding their soulmate. After 18 months of long distance TheMan and I have moved in together and are embarking on the next part of our life together.

  1. you story is really inspirational!! I hope my story ends up like yours..I do hope so becasue I have a great guy. I’m also from Cali and he lives in Boston. We were dating for a year and half until he finished grad school and moved to pursue his dream of teaching at a University. I am still in school with one more year to finish. We’ve been dating long distance since Sept of 07 and since then we have seen eachother every month. I do hope we work out in the end, he is a really great guy and I would hate for our relationship to end due to the distance. thanks for sharing your story- =)
